First of all I’m sorry for all of the bloggers who visit me often that I haven’t updated my blog for a while, particularly to Turisuna who has encouraged me a lot.

Merry Christmas to Everyone!!!

Christmas isn’t a Chinese festival, but it has become very popular in recent years especially among young people and kids. One of the reasons I can think of is the commercial one as people are encouraged to consume, buying gifts for each other, going out for dinners or other activities.

Tomorrow night (Dec 24th) will be the Christmas Eve. We call it “Ping An Ye” in Chinese. “Ping An” means safe, sound and secure. So, we associate the pronunciation “Ping” with Apple, as Apple is “Ping Guo” in Chinese in pin yin. I do not know when it has started that people giving each other apples on Christmas Eve to wish friends safe, sound and smooth the whole year, but you have to eat the whole apple when you get one. Of course people will wrap the apple or buy a wrapped one for their friends.
