  • I think we have a thread for the film version in Tomeywood, but the games are in a league of their own.

    My favourite moments...?

Overall - the music. Sh1 theme is fantastic.

Silent Hill 1 - Cybil's shiny leather trousers. How useless Harry is with any kind of weapon. Getting to hit the nurses with the fire-hammer, watching them drop to the floor and twitch. So satisfying...

Silent Hill 2 - the hotel - using the temperamental lift - I never realised how much I relied on my radio until then.
    Show content
involves leaving EVERYTHING, all weapons, torches, radio, health, behind

Oh yeah, and the number of times James looked at a big, dark, seemingly bottomless black hole and decided he'd like nothing better than to jump down it.
"Hmm... this looks like your grave. Can't see the bottom. Jump down? Yes/No"
Duuuuuhhhhhhhrrrrrrrr... I don't know, James... what seems the logical choice?

I'm yet to play Homecoming,(I have a distinct lack of PS3/X360) but it looks cool enough.

  • Silent Hill 2 has to be one of THE greatest games I have ever played.

I've been looking everywhere for the original game. I remember playing it as a kid (It was  my cousin's copy, which he's since sold) and it scaring the living SHIT out of me.

Number 4, I borrowed from a friend of a friend, who I've since lost contact with. Harry seems to have the same problem James does. "There's a hole in the bathroom wall. I can't see the end. Go in Yes/No." Hmm, let me think, what's the obvious choice here? YES.

I also can't find Silent Hill 3, but that's mpre to the fact that everytime I spot it, I'm broke.

Homecoming. I can't wait for Homecoming.

  • My current copy of SH1 came from that magical land of ebay about 2 years ago. It was new, but I've since stood on the case a couple of times. My SH2 came from a game shop in Barnsley, pre-owned, completely knackered and scratched but 100% playable.

  • Is good then? Hmm...

What's the gameplay like? Just like the previous games? Or *shudders* has it been turned into a 1st person shoot-em-up like RE5?

    Fun?

  • Gameplay's pretty much the same until you get to the fighting. It's a lot more complex, with blocks, dodges, and different weapons, but IMO a lot more fun than *whack* *whack* *whack* *dead*

    I got a demo of RE5, btw, and it wasn't FPS... :s

  • Ja!

I haven't actually finished Homecoming yet.  Made the rookie mistake of wasting my health packs, and now I can't take two steps without dying.

Not a new game either, but a 'reimagining' of SH1...? :disbelief:

Hmm... not sure I like the sound of an icy Otherworld instead of the hellish industrial one... :gtsktsk:
But it has definitely piqued my interest...

I've had Homecoming for a couple of months now, and we've done the same. We got as far as the sewers.
    But...

    IT     IS      AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the way shit like chairs and tables and stuff move and make noise when you walk into them. Proper shits us up every time, if you'll pardon my Klatchian.

And at the start of the game, when I recognised we were in the Alchemilla hospital from the first game... it was like coming home. How appropriate. :moreluv:

but IMO a lot more fun than *whack* *whack* *whack* *dead*

Abosolutely nothing wrong with *whack* *whack* *whack* *dead*

When I was your age *whack* *whack* *whack* *dead* was all we had and it was good enough for us.

In fact, some people didn't have *whack* *whack* *whack* *dead*.

You were lucky if you had *whack* *whack* *whack* *dead*

I love *whack* *whack* *whack* *dead* :moreluv: It was always one of the most fun aspects of the game, IMO. You spent half an hour wandering about being thoroughly creeped and then you find a woogie. You take out your trusty nail-on-a-stick and you beat him. You beat him til he's on the ground. You beat him some more when he tries to get back up. You beat him til he bleeds out. And then you beat him so more, just to be safe.

 Bit of supressed rage there, I suspect... :)

  • I now have to restart Homecoming, due to idiotically saving over my data.  I suppose it isn't that bad considering I'd been stuck at the same point (five nurses, no bullets, small room, only one health drink: UN-DOABLE) for months anyway, and the data I saved over my good one with was me restarting it to try again anyway.
