Sevenfold - Prologue

  • Stop what you are doing. Sit down or lay down. Whichever feels more comfortable for you. Now, think about that pressing matter that must be taken care of. Visualise it as a piece of paper – blank and yet to be completed. Now think of your favourite colour and beginning at the top left side of the sheet of paper, visualise yourself filling the blank white space with colour. In swirls, circles, square and many other shapes of indeterminable dimensions the paper is filled quickly and efficiently.

Now imagine you hold that sheet of coloured paper lengthways by each side, between your thumb and forefinger. Fold the sheet in half. Turn it and fold again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And just once more.

It is near impossible for many people to fold a piece of paper beyond seven times. Working on the assumption you are one of those many people – and have repeated my instructions – then I can tell you that by stopping what you were doing you have now achieved what is was you were trying to achieve.
By visualising your task as a piece of paper, then colouring it until you can colour no more and ultimately folding your task seven times, you have now completed your task. That pressing matter is no longer urgent. You feel calmer – a little segment of stress removed from your mind.

But of course life isn’t so simple. In reality the task still needs to be accomplished. And because of the complexity of life you no doubt have multiple tasks to perform before you can truly switch off from all that you feel you need to achieve.

But what if I told you it didn’t have to be this way. That you could find a way to balance. To no longer be stressed by the somewhat trivial events of life. No matter what the situation, there is a way to handle it effortlessly.

I am Tate. I am here to show you the way to true enlightenment and peace. But you have to make time for me. Trust me it works. I was just like you. I was a person, juggling and struggling. But I was destined for better things.

On my journey to where I am now, I learned much about the world, the people I surround myself with and most importantly, myself. I will tell you my story one day. First you need the first lesson.

Now no good mentor provides a lesson to their student without the tools to accomplish the learning so I grant you  one favour, which you must one day pass on. From now on, whenever you undertake the rule of sevenfold, and visualise your task being accomplished, it will be so in reality.

My best advice would be to do this as quickly as possible with all current situations which you face: at home, work, personally – whatever the situation – sevenfold can improve the situation greatly. By using sevenfold for different situations continuously, your mind will clear and you will be able to properly meditate. This must be done quickly because as one situation becomes resolved, another will start to arise.

Sevenfold will help you accomplish your task. The visualisation of the task being completed followed by the seven folds will mean the task is complete. Keep practising, and when seven tasks have been completed in quick succession – then you will be ready for true meditation, and ready to learn my story – the story that in turn will become yours…

  • It riles me, sometimes, when I see people rushing their way through their lives, never stopping to take it in. They pack so much in to their daily routine that, by the time they have had their first morning coffee to awaken their sleep deprived minds - they are already twenty minutes late for starting their day.

Everybody does it. Well - it is true that not all people drink coffee, but still - they pack so much in, they leave little time for themselves. Some do it unconsciously. Some just have no ability to use the word, no; then some - well - they do it to avoid their 'self', favouring stress of external cause, over personal stress.

You are running yourself in to the ground. But it doesn't have to be that way. It took me long enough to catch you un-awares the first time.

'Ah. Morning, Tate. I was wondering if I would get a visit from you today...'

Even now, after six weeks of communicating with a voice only I can hear, it still makes me jump out of my skin every time she speaks to me.

Morning, Georgina. Well rested as usual, I see.

'Not today, Tate. I've got a lot on today, so I had to pull a late one last night to make sure I am ready. And please, call me George.'

At first I tried to ignore Tate, but she is persistent. She talks to me wherever I go. Trying to convince me to "magically" clear my mind. More often than not lately, I have thought the only thing I need clearing from my mind... is Tate.

    Thanks, George.

'Must you really listen to my every thought?' I think aloud.

Well, I try not to, but it's a form of feedback,  suppose. Helps me ascertain how well I am doing, too.

'At what? You still wont tell me that?' I ask, despairingly.

You still wont implement sevenfold, as proven by the to do list longer than your arm. I have told you. Make some time for yourself and for me, then you will listen more, understand more and perhaps be able to start your lessons.

'Lessons again! Why do I need to be learning lessons? Why am I even talking back? You are a figment of my imagination!'

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Tate is full of nonsensical babble. Luckily she is pretty quiet when I am around other people, so at least I don't come across as mad crazy in front of other people.

I have no idea why she suddenly started talking to me, all those weeks ago, but she sure is persistent. She wants me to do the sevenfold crap she told me about. Right... yeah, I'm just going to get myself into hocus pocus, because my mind told me to...

If that's not bordering on schitzophrenia, I don't know what is.

     You're not schitzophrenic!

'You would say that.' I retort.

What should I do, to prove to you I am real?

'Er... Call me on the phone? Knock my door, like a normal person. If - and this is a very big of - you are real then you can surely do that?'

I'm not supposed to be able to do that, until you have cleared your mind.

'People aren't supposed to be able to talk to other people, in their head either,' I quickly counteract Tate, with my own argument.

It's no good. You would only convince yourself you are seeing things. Which is why I need you to focus upon sevenfold, so you can begin to believe I am real, then you can see me.

I look at the time. Seven forty-five. Luke, my boss, will be here to pick me up and give me a ride to the office any minute. I find myself anticipating his arrival, knowing that as soon as I am in the company of other's, then Tate will be quiet.

Right on cue, the doorbell rings. I pop my coffee cup in the sink and grab my bag, keys and coat from the table to the left of the door to my open plan apartment, and am just heading to the door when Tate speaks again.

Well I guess, there is something else i could try...

'Shhh, Luke is here,' I whisper to the empty room, silencing her.

I open the door to find a woman standing before me. She is roughly five feet seven, with light brown hair in a pixie like, short crop. She has bright shining eyes, which have a look of knowing about them. Her skin is pale cream and she extends a hand toward me.

'Hi!' Her voice is far too chirpy for this early in the morning. 'Luke is outside, on the phone. Your assitant. Nyla? She is unwell so I am filling in for her. I hope you don't mind me coming up. He said you wouldn't..'

'Whoa girly! Slow down. You're talking nineteen to the dozen. Okay so you're my temporary assistant? Wow, Luke works fast at finding temps...' I muse aloud, stepping out and shutting the door behind me. 'But, most importantly... What is your name?'

'Oh gosh! Sorry. I'm just excited to be working with the famous Georgina Lexington. I'm Maddison, Luke's sister. Well, half sister. I've been in town a few weeks looking for work so he offered me your assistant's job to tide me over.'

We are now out of the building, and Luke is waiting by the car, casually leaning back.

'Well, okay,' I say to her. 'But two rules. If I ask you to make me a coffee, you make yourself one, and don't call me that again... I'm just... George.

'Luke!' I reach out give him a hug. 'Good weekend?' I climb into the passenger seat as Maddison has already climbed into the back of the Black BMW. Craig climbs behind the wheel.

'It was great, thanks. Didn't do much, just hung out watching movies and eating pizza with Madam Tatty Tate, here. How about you?' He asks.

But I don't answer. My mind is stuck on the name he has jsut called his half sister. Tatty Tate. Tate. Tate?! I look over my shoulder, and she looks straight at me and smiles.

    Now, do you believe me?
