Ok, this is a new story for me. Still in the work-in-progress stages, so updates on this may be slower then some of my others.

However i still need feedback on it, it is going to be different then what i usually write, in later chapters you should see why.
I'll leave it to you know,
Read and reply your thoughts, i'll take all into good measure and try to improve on it.
rofl hope it grips you  rofl

    --x--

She hides behind her long hair, hoping that the world will change the next time she looks and breathes the tainted air she grew up in. She hates it here, she always has, yet she can’t escape. She knows if she does they’ll find her and bring her back to reality. But is it reality? Where she can’t even open her eyes without crying out in pain because she’s so scared to ring and phone for help?.

She walks alone, no ones behind her except her broken conscience and confidence that fell to pieces over 15 years ago. How is she still alive? One person knows. But she doesn’t understand, that person is me.

I'm writing her story, one she can't tell because her memories are so hard to bring up. Maybe someday she'll realise this is the right thing to do.
Maybe this way she can move on and not live in the past.

These are the words she'll never say.

  •    In a matter of minutes, Kara immediately felt out of place, something was telling her to keep her mouth shut as her father talked. There was something about Mr.Blank that she didn’t like, even though he had a friendly face,
“Yes, Kara’s very intelligent, top in English and Science did you know?” Chester bragged, Mr.Blank smiled and nodded to Kara who felt more out of place then before,
“You’re embarrassing her,” Mr.Blank said as he turned back to Kara’s father,
“So I am, He laughed, “Well, I’ll leave you to talk for a bit, I can hear Matchmaker crying out for something to eat.” Chester then stod up and left the room, turning the room from reasonably comfortable to tension in just a few seconds. Kara waited nervously, hoping for some kind of distraction to ease the tension back to almost bareable.
“So, Kara, do you know why I’m here?” Mr.Blank asked, Kara nodded slightly, diverting her hands gaze to her hands as she twiddled her thumbs back and forth.
“You’re here to ask me questions on my family,” She said not looking from her hands,
“And to see if you’re ok,”
“I’m fine!” Kara snapped, “I just got in a fight, there’s nothing wrong with me!”
“You’re getting into a lot of fights these days,”
       “You think it’s my fault?”
       “I didn’t say that,” Mr.Blank said calmly,
“You were thinking it,” Kara muttered,
“You jump to conclusions to quickly,”
“And so do you, if you’ll excuse me, I have homework to do.” Kara stood up quickly and walked out, accidentily picturing a vase sitting behind Mr.Blank to fall onto him and spill the flowers and water on to his lap. Sure enough, Kara heard him shout and swear as she walked up the stairs but didn’t go back down to check if he was ok. Instead, she stormed into her bedroom and took out her laptop from underneath her bed.

The words of ‘Faint’ sung in her ears as she turned her laptop on and found herself typing her password in without herself even realising. When she saw her display picture of her artwork appear, she smiled when she realised how long it took her to complete. The artwork itself was on her ceiling, now covered in a thin line of dust and clearly visible even in the lack of light in her bedroom.
As her laptop was loading, she looked to her ceiling and the two holding hands. The A1 picture had only taken her three hours to complete, yet it looked professionally done.
When her laptop had finished loading, she looked back to it and closed all the windows that had appeared.
“Time to go to my other sanctuary,” she muttered as she rolled here eyes.
The internet started up straight away, loading faster because she was closer to the internet modem then when she usually stayed downstairs and went online. When her homepage loaded, she logged into the site her friend created to post pictures of art work online. When she finished typing her password and hit enter, a message appeared to her and she realised that her friend was online.

       “From: Meteora
    To: Cookie

Hey, finally online I see? This is a first so early. Something wrong? You don’t usually come online till around 11 when your parents are asleep.
    Reply,
    Mito.”

       Kara smiled weakly and replied,

       “From: Cookie
    To: Meteora

I’m ok, I think. Someone pushed me over and pushed me in a cupboard all day, a new guy helped me out.
Don’t want me to be on? I can log off you know?
    Kara.

She received a reply almost straight away,

       “From: Meteora
    To: Cookie

Don’t you dare log off, I’ve been waiting for someone to talk to, but because people are at school it makes it hard. Please don’t log off. I’ll drive myself insane if you do. There’s no one to talk to over here, and it’s hard imagining people to draw when your so bored. I swear it’s a curse you know, when you want something to do you can’t actually think of anything.
    Mito.

       Kara replied quickly,

       “From: Cookie
    To: Meteora

Fine, I’ll stay on, but answer me this. Have you ever met someone that you swear you’ve met before?

She clicked ‘send’ then sighed as she waited for the message pop-up to appear again. A few minutes later it appeared and she refreshed the page, seeing his reply.

      “From: Meteora
    To: Cookie

Yup, that’s happened. Wait, you got shut in a cupboard? You’d better start talking.

Kara sighed and replied, knowing what his response would be,

      “From: Cookie
    To: Meteora

Yeah, I’d say it was ‘the usual’ but this didn’t happen before. Lets just say my nose probably wont look the same.
This isn’t a good subject, can we change it?”

Sure enough, Kara wasn’t too upset when she read his reply, she knew he wouldn’t want to drop the subject now.

       “From: Meteora
    To: Cookie

Nose wont look the same? Now I want to really find out what happened. Tell me, please. You know I don’t like seeing cute girls hurt.”

Kara smiled and replied, she’d been talking to Mito long enough to know that he thought she was ‘cute’ but still blushed every time he said it.

      “From: Cookie
    To: Meteora

A girl just pushed me over, I landed on my nose and she dragged me into a cupboard. That’s basically it.

       Wait, I’m ‘cute’?
    Kara”

She laughed weakly and waited, sure enough, a few minutes later he replied.

      “From: Meteora
    To: Cookie

What? Stop trying to change the subject, you’ve officially got me worried about you. Is there anyway you can meet me today? I know it’s far, but if we meet half way it shouldn’t be so bad. Can you meet in Crawley?”

Kara was stunned for a few seconds, would she be able to meet him? She had to, he was the only one keeping the smile on her face during the day. The only one that for the past couple of months actually listened to her, the question was, could she trust him with her new found secret?

      “From: Cookie
    To: Meteora

Sure, I think I have enough. Not sure on the train times though, I guess I’ll have to wait and see what times they run when I get there.
If I can’t get there, I’ll come back online later.

Kara signed off the site and turned her laptop off. She knew it was a risk meeting a stranger, but after the day she’d had knew it was her only chance of escaping the life she knew would drag her under.

After turning off her laptop, she knew her sanctuary would have to wait. Mr.Blank was apparently staying for dinner, but after the display she’d shown she didn’t feel like joining anyone to talk about her day.
However interesting it had been, finding she had powers wasn’t a good subject starter, with or without a guest sitting at the table.

To avoid the questions that she knew she would get bugged by, she decided on ignoring her hunger pangs from her stomach and grabbed her school bag as she leant over the side of her bed and sat up.
Once comfortable, she opened her bag and threw the bloodied shirt on the floor, she sighed as she saw her blood as it flew in the air but still stayed where she was on her bed. Realising after that she had to move and get out of the house before her father saw her.

Silently, she searched for a clean t-shirt and jeans to wear in her drawers and got changed. Why she didn’t get changed as soon as she got home, she couldn’t understand but she took the money from her school trousers and put it into her jean pockets instead.
Not even looking at what she was pulling out, she took out a pair of Black trousers and blue t-shirt. She winced when she took off her white shirt but braced herself for the change in clothes when she slowly pulled the blue t-shirt on.
The trousers were easier, but her nose stung slightly when she leant forwards to pick the trousers up from the floor and slide them onto her thin legs. She knew she was thin, she wasn’t one of those who thought she was fat even though she wasn’t. The problem was, no one had recently noticed her lack of appetite, in her eyes no one seemed to realise what was going on inside her head. Only one person knew, and that was herself.

When she was finally changed, she grabbed her bag and left the comfort of her bedroom behind. As she walked downstairs, she could hear her father talking to Mr.Blank in the sitting room but paid no attention to what they were saying. She instead walked straight past the slightly open door and crept out her front door as silently as she could.
By now, it was around the time the schools closed. Kara had to check around corners before she walked down the streets leading to the train station. Elaine was running through her mind so fast and painfully it seemed Kara’s head was splitting.
“Hey, we locked you in a cupboard didn’t we?” Elaine snarled behind her, Kara froze and spun around, feeling cold shivers run down her spine as she did. Elaine was alone, which for Kara was a first but she wasn’t arguing. One on one was Kara’s advantages, the only downside was Elaine didn’t know Kara’s new power.
“Leave me alone,” Kara said coldly,
“Why? You got a good enough reason for me to leave you alone?” Elaine smirked,
“No, but you really don’t want to mess with me.” Kara frowned, Elaine seemed to think it was a joke and instead of walking off laughed.
“You think it’s funny? I can beat you to a pulp in seconds!”
“Yeah, like I care! Appearances aren’t everything, even if you kill me it’d be better living and knowing I’d see your ugly face everyday!” Kara almost shouted. Elaine clenched her fist so fast and held it threateningly by Kara’s face,
“WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?” She shouted,
“Do I have to answer that?” Kara raised her left eyebrow and stared at her,
“YES! ANSWER THE QUESTION OR YOU’LL FIND A BRUISE APPEARING ON YOUR FACE IN LESS THEN FIVE SECONDS!” Elaine shouted, her eyebrows spread further apart slightly in shock.
“I think…” Kara looked away from Elaine for a second then turned back, “not.”
“What?” Elaine shook her head in confusion,
“I’m not going to answer your question, it’s pointless.” Kara said calmly shrugging her shoulders, Elaine’s eyes pinned further open and stared at her.
“One,” Elaine said took a small step forwards but Kara didn’t react, “two,” Elaine’s fist rose slightly, “three,” Elaine’s frown returned and she raised her arm about to punch Kara, “four,” Elaine paused for the final second and found her arm shaking,
“You really thought I’d believe you when you said five seconds?” Kara laughed, “I knew you were joking,”
“What’s going on?” Elaine said suddenly scared,
“I said not to mess with me today, you didn’t listen.” Kara said calmly, her eyes concentrating on Elaine’s arm as she slowly made it move towards it’s owners face instead. “Say sorry,”
“Me? Say sorry to you?” Elaine laughed, taking her mind off her right arm so quickly Kara took her opportunity to move her arm even closer,
“Say sorry!” Kara raised her voice and Elaine stopped laughing immediately,
       “Why?” she asked,
“Because you will regret it if you don’t, haven’t you noticed your arm yet?” Kara smirked as Elaine finally realised,
“What-” she began, but Kara painted an image in her head and released the image as she turned and ran. She heard Elaine scream but she was running away from the scene, full speed to the train station.

She could feel the wind picking up her hair behind her and moving at as she ran, running was the freedom she always wanted, the only way she could move that didn’t make her scared.
Maybe it was the fact that she could run fast that made her less scared then walking, she always thought that people were following her and hid when she turned around. It was the opportunity to run and escape, travelling faster to places then she would have that made her smile.  However, there was more to the story that she let in on, mostly because before Mito, no one talked to her or made her feel like she was listened to.

She ran through the traffic fast, diverting cars seconds before they appeared out of corners just to do the same again and again. Sighing, Kara glanced sideways and saw students from her school watching her but when she glanced back she realised that she was nearly at the train station. She just had to cross the road and follow the road around to get where she wanted to be, the problem was the traffic.
Kara pressed the button for the traffic lights and tapped her feet impatiently, she wondered why she was when she realised that something was missing from her ears. Before she could pull her headphones out of her bag, the light turned red for the cars and she crossed quickly. She took the mp3 out of her bag as she pressed the next button, waiting impatiently for it to start up or the light to turn red again so she’d have something to do.

She hated being in the same spot for more then a couple of seconds unless she had music playing, it was a recent thing though. Not being able to sit still for too long before her feet tapped or hands moved without her even realising.
The mp3 player turned on first, and Kara put the headphones in her ears quickly and pressed play on the front to hear the songs she felt could tell her life story.
Just as she pressed play the red light showed and she ran across the road and followed the street around, when she saw the station in sight, she rolled her eyes and smiled weakly. She was about to see the person who made her smile, the question was did she have enough money to get the train?
“Money!” Kara said suddenly, finally realising she may not have enough to get a single let alone a return back home. Then again, did she want to come back? Was there really anything for her to stay for?
She prayed that she’d have enough; even if she had to walk back all that mattered to her was seeing him. She didn’t stop running until she was close, even when she did she walked fast, searching in her bag for her purse at the same time. It was only after searching it that she remembered the money in her trouser pocket.
Mentally slapping herself, she walked up to the ticket booth and asked the female sitting behind it,
“Child return to Crawley please,” she placed the correct amount on the counter and waited for the tickets to appear, the female smiled at her as she handed her the tickets and Kara smiled weakly back. Not many people smiled at her, she had it in her head she was ugly because she was told too often. She’d heard it so many times she was starting to believe it, bizarre as how it seemed.

The ticket barriers were open, leaving her to walk fast through them and run up the stairs two at a time, she knew train times roughly so ran straight up to the platform. Luck was on her side, just as she reached the platform, a train to Horsham was pulling into the station. Kara sighed with relief and opened the nearest door, expecting to see a packed train she was surprised by the site of seats.
Slowly, she made her way to a spare seat and sat down, it would take her 20 minutes to reach Crawley and even then she couldn’t guarantee if he would actually be there.

Instead of watching people get on and off the train, she closed her eyes and waited for the train to stop at the right stop. She pictured meeting him, and him turning out to be someone who he wasn’t. A paedophile? A no show? Maybe if she was lucky he would exist and she could talk to him.
Seconds seemed to pass as she listened to the music singing in her ears, but it was moments before the train stopped at Crawley when she finally opened her eyes again and stood up to walk off.
Strangely, she felt her heart beating faster. Anticipation? Nerves? She wasn’t sure which one covered her feelings more so she gave up choosing and instead slowly walked up the stairs and across the bridge that separated the two platforms.

As she walked down she could see someone leaning against a wall, his hair was shiny black, covering his right eye and making the left out of view. Was this Mito? As she got closer she realised it had to be, she heard him talking about his green converses. They were his favourite shoes, along with his arm warmers that seemed to be hidden under his outfit.
       As she approached him slowly, she took in his appearance;
black long sleeved shirt, black Linkin Park t-shirt underneath and baggy trousers with chains hanging from one side. And she smiled, this was a guy that didn’t care what others thought of him. He was his own person, even if people around him made him feel useless because of what he chose to wear.
A few steps away from him, she stopped and waited. If this was Mito, she hoped he would recognise her. Nervously, she coughed quietly and the stranger took his head from the ground to show his face. His hands were in his pockets, but as he looked up she saw him take them out revealing his black and white checked arm warmers at the same time.
“ Kara?” he asked slowly, Kara nodded and looked behind Mito’s glasses to his blue/green eyes and smiled,
       “Yeah,” she said quietly,
“I thought you wouldn’t come,” Mito said looking away slightly,
“I wouldn’t miss this.” Kara said firmly, Mito looked back and smiled holding his arms out at the same time. Kara looked questioningly at them for a second before she smiled and walked the last few steps towards him. When she got close enough she felt his arms wrap around her and she smiled even wider then before,
“I wont let anyone hurt you,” he whispered in her ear, Kara held her breath for a second before she released it and hugged him back. What was this? the pain was going away?

  • I know that it was my emotion.  It was small, pale, and weak-looking, not short, orange, and furry.  It was weak because...well...I killed off most of my emotions; they usually get in the way of my work.  With them out of the way, none of that pesky guilt or compassion to put me somewhere else instead of in front of the computer screen typing! :-)

My smiles are as fake as my superpowers.  Wait, I do have superpowers...

Okay, so my smiles are as fake as the nation of Poopastankananka.

At any rate, I just can't wait until Hall-I mean a certain person shows up.  Hehehe...I'm keeping things from people.  How secretive and delightful!

  • I'm going to guess that Hallow pops out of nowhere and kills everything.
    ...
No, I'm kidding.  I'm going to guess that Elaine is going to attack again, demanding to know what happened, and Mito's going to stop her with some strange ability.

  • OH!  I got an awesome idea, one that should help you introduce Hallow if you still haven't figured that out.

After they met, they went to a cafe or something, and as they leave, they fail to notice that they're being watched by a person that fits Hallow's description.

Not my best thought, but I'll save those for my own stories.

  • You don't have to do that.  I know that typing all day can be tiring, so don't do that for just one kid's birthday, especially one so far away.  Saint's birthday?  Maybe.  Your birthday?  If it floats your boat.  My birthday?  Don't go to all the trouble.  The last thing I want to do is put someone out just for my birthday when I probably won't even be on all day.  Family parties, you know.

Anyways, thank's for the...card?  Um, the three emotes.  Yeah, that's it.  Thanks for the three emotes!  I'll have to remember to do something like that for your birthday.

  • I was actually under the impression that Hallow was one of your evil-zombie-overlord-type-characters, but, as said, the names out of the bag now.

  • Actually, the name Hallow came from the first book I ever started on my new computer, Dark Heart, Light Soul, which has sadly died.

Basic run down?  Like Dungeon Spawn, it centered around a creature on the darker side of things, Soul the Shadow, which were a race just lower than the Shades.  The Three Saints, Saint Hallow, Saint Requiem, and Saint Saint (yes, his name was Saint, but that's before I even knew you, Saint!), meet Soul after falling into the pit that contains his home, and this encounter changes his life forever.

I'm thinking about posting it here, mostly because it was my first real book.

Anyways, sorry for stealing the thread, Phoenix!  I'll shut up now! *zips mouth shut*
