I thought I’d give this EC Sponsored ad thing a go, see how it works, so I deposited $25 in the thingy and put an ad in the ‘mixed bag’ area.
So it’s been running about half a day so far (not sure when they approved it), and the dashboard says I’ve had 6026 impressions and 115 clicks, which isn’t bad. Then again, it’s already eaten through nearly $4, so this isn’t going to be a very long experiment!!
Current cpm $0.6000 – Current cpc $0.0314

Thanks for the input. I was thinking of trying this one out myself, but I am having a little trouble or BIG trouble with an closed Google ADSense account and now I will wait until I have seen your raport.
I’m in too. So far, it’s better than my Project Wonderful experiment. I’m hoping that there will be more traffic during the work week (I’m always a little light on the weekend.)
Good luck with your experiment. I’ll be interested to see how it goes. While I click on a lot of EntreCard ads, I do try to avoid clicking on the paid ads.

what did you mean with “mixed bag” area
You mean spread your ad over all categories instead of targeting it, i guess (as your cpm is 0.60$ and not 1.20$).
I think it could be also helpful if you target your ad, in this case you won’t see too many clicks at once (and as you can’t reciprocate everyone, you’ll loose most of the traffic after two or three days again) but your pic would be longer in the mind of the EntreCard members, so the branding effect is better.
I guess, you can’t access my blog as it is an blogspot.com – Blog. There i wrote in the past already articles about the effectiveness of these ads, 25$ is good for less than 5 days (especially during weekdays, your page impressions will shot up and the $$ will pour out of your account

You might see a nice bounce in your ad price in EntreCard and probably in Adgitize 20 – 50 points more but after the 25$ are burnt your EC price will be at the same level within the following 7 days.
When i look at EZGreatlife (which has also a sponsored ad running) his ad price doesn’t jump as he is already in the TOP 15 and as we know now, it’s just a bounce for 5 days. So if you buy an ad which costs more than 32 EC you will pay already too much as this high traffic won’t be sustainable after your sponsored ad expires.
The effect is the biggest for new blogs with ad prices around 2 – 8 ECs (as EntreCard claimed this price could raise up to 2000%).
For myself, it seems too expensive to advertise over all categories, perhaps a trial for the beginning (quick branding) and afterward a targeted ad which lasts definitely 4 – 25 times longer than the first option.
Yep, I targeted it at the ‘Mixed Bag’ category! Really, that’s what it’s called.
I did that one because it’s one of the larger categories.
As for my RC price, well this blog varies from 128 to 586 usually. At the moment it’s 384, which it’s been for about a week now, so it’s not affected that at all.
As you say, there’s a spike just now. At the current rate of $$$ consumption the ad will last another day.
One thing that occurred is that it may go faster as there’s only 6 blogs in total doing the sponsorship at the moment, thus we’ll be displayed more frequently I guess.
